Enjoyed this article about Christoph Niemann, illustrator, which I found on a website called the99percent.com
I like it for two reasons.
- I’d never heard of him before and I love the toothbrush picture.
- It’s reassuring to read from someone else that it hurts to create great work.
Just don’t panic when you get that sick headachy feeling that you’ll never get there, thinking you’ll never create something brilliant again. This guy has more work offers than he knows what to do with and he still feels like that. On the upside, some jobs he used to really grind over, he can now conjure up as if by magic. Only of course, it’s not by magic, it’s through experience.
The whole of the 99 percent website is based around the concept expressed by Thomas Edison that “Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.”
